Last Wednesday, August 31st 2022, Apple released iOS 12.5.6. This Security Update fixes a WebKit vulnerability that “may have been actively exploited.” Users of newer devices will not care, but I cannot overstate how significant this is as a demonstrable commitment to security.

This latest fix applies to “iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air, iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, and iPod touch (6th generation)” - those are devices 8 to 9 years old! Like my trusty iPhone 6!

iOS 12 was superseded by iOS 13 around September 2019, and since then, according to Wikipedia, Apple has released 15 security fixes for iOS 12 to continue to ensure the security of older devices.

THIS. IS. THE. WAY.
